Great purchase for a casual LP fan. This product delivered exactly what I wanted: a sub-$100 turntable that played vinyl without issues. I've used it about 30 times so far, with no problems to report.
Sound quality is great. This was a very easy to install product, instructions were clear, craftsmanship is good.Its classic black look is exactly what we were looking for, and the price is very reasonable.
My father got this gift and I have never seen him so happy to receive something before. My father has had a stack of records for many years and has not been able to play them since his last record player was lost in a hurricane. All in all this is a great product for the price. It is great that you can hook the turntable up to speakers or headphones depending on what you are in the mood for. My family and I thought it would be a great father's day gift to get for him. Once we got it in the mail we tried it out to make sure that it worked properly and we were very surprised at the quality of this turntable considering its price.
If my table is indeed an anomaly, then this could be a great value.Still, I can't help but feel ripped off. I tried to save money for my home theater setup (I have a beautiful Dual 1229Q in the stereo system) and find myself listening to (and buying more) records these days than ever before. I saw the reviews on here about erratic skipping with this turntable. Unfortunately, I wasn't to be so lucky. This combination sings beautifully. The chassis is very cheap feeling overall, something I knew going in, but it's nonetheless important to know.So what does this table do well (when it's working properly). Additionally, it tracks everything I've given it, even some warped garage sale stuff.
At the risk of sounding like a bitter old man, they don't make them like they used to. I found a Philips AF-677 on Craigslist, matched it with a new AT95E cartridge and an inexpensive phono preamp (the AT PL50 does have a perfectly acceptable preamp built in, part of why I bought one), all for approximately the same price as this table.
That's no major problem because I just use the cue control to set it correctly, but the arm drops way too quickly for my comfort. So either I got a lemon, or all the 5-star reviews are from people who don't use a turntable every day.In the end, it's about the same price to put together a vintage turntable rig that will far exceed this deck in both performance and reliability.
I bought a refurb with the hope that any bugs would've been worked out. It played 30 sides correctly, but now every other record I play will skip like mad.
Seriously, consider spending 20 minutes to learn how to setup an old turntable, you'll thank me. I think tiny pieces of dust missed by my pre-play cleaning must be large enough to knock the needle out of the groove, because right as I'm beginning to enjoy a passage it GRUNPK skips ahead or behind a few seconds.When using the auto-play feature, the needle drops anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute into the first track.
Well, it actually sounds a whole lot better than it has any right to for its price.
Buyers beware. My guess: either the belt or motor was defective from the factory. Now I have to go through the expense and hassle of returning it for refund. I just received the Audio Technica PL 50 Turntable. You get what you pay for and take a big chance ordering this cheap turntable. After the fifth or sixth the speed was wavering and by the tenth it was slow and wavering. The first few records played beatifully. This makes it unlistenable.
